Again, Flood Wreaks Havoc In Ilorin

Date: 2012-06-14

A heavy downpour in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, on Tuesday destroyed property worth several thousands of naira.

The destruction was occasioned by the flooding that accompanied the torrential rainfall along Ajase-Ipo road, Ilorin.

The heavy rain that lasted about three hours destroyed furniture items, food items, office equipment and other materials, with erosion submerging some buildings within the area.

The Special Adviser to the Kwara State Governor on Infrastructure, Otunba Taiye Afolabi, said that the state government would intensify its efforts towards finding a lasting solution to the perennial problems of flooding in the state capital.

Afolabi, who was at the scene of the flood disaster, said the attention of the appropriate authorities  would be drawn to the incident.

He said that all stakeholders would meet and decide on how to put an end to the problem of flood.
