KWHA holds public hearing on proposed N20b bond

Date: 2015-12-16

The Kwara State House of Assembly is to hold a public hearing on the proposed 20 billion bond by the state government.

The public hearing will hold on Friday, December 18, at 8:00am at the Assembly complex.

The Speaker, Dr Ali Ahmad disclosed this at yesterday's plenary.

He said the public hearing was to carry members of the public along in relation to the needed priority projects in their respective areas if the bond was later approved.

Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of the state had sought the approval of the parliament to enable him secure N20 billion bonds to address critical developmental projects.

The House consequently requested the governor to furnish it with detailed information on the bonds so far accessed by the present administration in the state.

The parliament had noted that the detailed information would assist the House to access the impact of the previous bonds accessed by the state government on the lives of the people of the state.

The House equally urged the executive arm of government to furnish the legislature with detailed information on the cost and locations of the projects to be executed under the proposed bond.

The legislature also resolved to consult widely with members of their constituencies on the proposed bond so that they would be better informed and obtain their inputs on the proposed N20 billion bond.

Dr Ahmad said politicians, members of the public and all other stakeholders are invited for the public hearing.
