IPMAN, DPR AGREE TO END FUEL SCARCITY IN KWARA STATE

The Independent Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) and the Department for Petroleum Resources (DPR), have given an assurance that the lingering fuel crisis in Ilorin and other parts of Kwara State will be resolved today.

They gave this assurance during a meeting with Kwara State government officials led by the Secretary to the State Government Alhaji Isiaka Gold, the Chief of Staff, Government House, Alhaji Baba Wahab and the Commissioner for Commerce and Co-operatives, Hon. Ahmed Muhammed Rifun at Government House, Ilorin last night.

The meeting which ended at 9pm, resolved that the bottlenecks and other issues identified by the IPMAN and DPR will be resolved to ensure that fuel supply is restored in Kwara State.

The Kwara State government also gave an assurance that it will continue to monitor the situation to ensure that the that the understanding between the DPR and IPMAN members in Kwara State is maintained, according to a statement issued last night by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communication, Dr. Muyideen Akorede.

State Chairman of IPMAN, Alhaji Okanlawon Olanrewaju, said that as major stakeholders, the association has no interest imposing avoidable hardship on the people. He also stated members' commitment to restoring normalcy to fuel supply in the State.

Speaking after the meeting, Alhaji Isiaka Gold expressed satisfaction that the weeks long fuel crisis which has brought untold hardship to the people of Kwara State is coming to an end. Ahaji Gold added that he is optimistic that the Federal Government will find a long term solution to the problem.
