KWHA to announce commissioner nominees Tuesday; Ayinke Saka, Alege make list

The Kwara State House of Assembly said it would announce the names of additional nine commissioner nominees tomorrow.

The Deputy Speaker of the House, Hon Mathew Okedare disclosed this in Ilorin yesterday while speaking with The Herald on phone.

Okedare confirmed that the House had received the list  of additional nine commissioner nominees.

He however said the names of the nominees would not be announced until Tuesday, this week when the House resumes plenary from its two weeks break.

The two weeks break was to enable members of the House attend a retreat in Ede, Osun State.

Our sources informed us two former commissioners are on the list. They are Alhaja Ayinke Saka and Alhaji Sulyman Atolagbe Alege.

The state governor on Tuesday said he had sent the list of additional nine commissioner nominees to the House for screening and confirmation.

The governor, in a statement issued by his aide on Media and Communications, Dr Muyideen Akorede, thanked the House for the speedy confirmation of the first set of nominees and expressed hope that the new names would be treated in the same manner.

The House had on Tuesday, October 20, confirmed the nomination of ten commissioner nominees.

The confirmed nominees included, the Director General, Mandate Constituency office of Senator Bukola Saraki, Alhaji Musa Yeketi from Asa; Otunba Taiwo Joseph (OTJ) from Ekiti; Mahmud Babatunde Ajeigbe from Offa and Barrister Abdulrazak Akorede from Ilorin East.

Others were former state Attorney General Commissioner for Justice  Barrister Kamaldeen Ajibade from Ilorin West; former Commissioner for Water Resources, Engr Idris Garba from Baruten and former Commissioner for Finance, Engr Demola Banu from Irepodun.

The rest included Pharmacist Bolakale Ayo (Ilorin West); Aro Yahaya (Ifelodun) and Alhaja Fumilayo Isiaka Oniwa (Moro).

This brings to 19, the number of commissioner nominees forwarded to the House for confirmation.

Also speaking, the Leader of the House, Hon Hassan Oyeleke confirmed the receipt of the list of the nominees.

Oyeleke said the same process which followed the announcement of the first set of commissioner nominees, where the Speaker announced their names on the floor, would be adopted.
