Ahmed Commends Labour Unions For Supporting Anti-corruption War

The Kwara State governor Abdulfatah Ahmed has commended workers in the state and their trade unions, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) for ensuring industrial harmony in the state; despite recent challenges.

Ahmed stated this on Thursday when the workers under the aegis of the NLC and TUC)in the state stopped over at Government House, Ilorin in the course of a peaceful anti-corruption rally.

Ahmed, represented by the State Head of Service, Hajiya Zahra Omar, promised that the state government would continue to address issues affecting workers in the state.

He commended the labour unions for rallying support for the President's anti-corruption crusade and assured Labour's that the letter would be forwarded appropriately to the presidency.

Speaking during the rally, the State Chairman of NLC, Comrade Yekini Agunbiade said the rally was in line with the directive of the national leadership of the Congress to support the ongoing war against corruption.

Agunbiade said corruption had created bad image for the country and its citizens, pointing out that it has also led to factory closure, retrenchment and worsened unemployment situation in Nigeria.

Speaking in the same vein, the State Chairman of the Trade Union Congress, Comrade Kola Olumoh stressed the need for Nigerians to support President Buhari's efforts in eliminating corruption in the country.

The rally which started at the Labour House, beside the State High Court, Ilorin took members of the organised labour unions through Ahmadu Bello Way to the Government House to submit a letter in support of President Muhammadu Buhari's anti-corruption crusade.
