Akanbi Drums Support For PMB's Anti- Graft War
The pioneer chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Justice Mustapha Akanbi on Thursday urged Nigerians to pray for the success of President Muhammadu Buhari's anti- corruption war. Akanbi during an interview with newsmen in Ilorin, Kwara state noted that "the body language of and spoken words of Buhari shows that he is going to fight corruption".
He charged Nigerians to support Buhari to achieve his goal of making the country great by ridding it of corruption. "Nobody will succeed in fighting corruption if government does not show political will and Buhari has demonstrated political will in what he is doing now.
"Honesty any sensible Nigerian should pray for Buhari to succeed. I did not imagine in my time that people will work for six months and they are not paid salaries. How will they feed their families? It is because people have stolen the money. Many political office holders have stolen money,"the elder statesman stated.
Akanbi expressed delight that the Buhari's administration has given more hope for now adding that "I spoke against ICPC in the papers that they have not been working that they should wake up from slumber just as EFCC has woken up". On the ministerial and alleged lopsided appointments,Akanbi said that Nigeria should wait till 30th of September to see whether or not the President will live up to his biddings.
"So he has given a dateline. He must have reason for giving that. When it comes to the issue of appointment, I understand that there are thousands of appointment to be given.
"Buhari is the president for the good and the bad and for every Nigerian. I am sure that by the grace of God, he will balance his appointments,"he added.
