We Won't Do It Again In Jesus Name - Robbery Suspect
The suspected leader of a five-man inter-state robbery gang, Sunday Uche, has pleaded for mercy from the Police, expressing hopes that with the help of Jesus Christ, he will not venture into crime again.
Sunday, who claimed to have come to Oyo State from Warri in Delta State, was said to have been jailed by a court for months in Ilorin over a robbery incident.
During parade by Police authorities in Ibadan, Oyo State on Thursday, he told reporters: "All I want is that they (Police) should just forgive us as we will not do it again in Jesus name."
Sunday and his team who confessed to have been in the crime for quite some time, added: "We are in this business to send ourselves to university. We want to return to university. That was why we ventured into robbing people. We snatch cars, using our gun to threat them."
He continued: "We contributed N15,000 to purchase gun for our operations and we were making progress until the hand of the law caught us. We regret our deeds".
The Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mohammed Katsina, while briefing pressmen at the Police Headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan, said: "Through the intensive patrol coupled with collaboration of our strategic partners, a gang of inter-state armed robbers which specialised in snatching exotic cars in various part of Kwara, Osun, and Oyo states was recently smashed by the command ambush squad when members of the syndicate sneaked to Ibadan where they planned and attempted to carry out their deadly operations before they were nabbed."
Other members of the team include Damilare Oyeladun, Muritala Ramoni, Abdulahi Rafiu and Simon Ogundeji. Items recovered from them include one Toyota Camry without registration number, a Honda End of Discussion car with Registration Number Lagos jJJ 349 DN, a locally-made pistols and one iPhone."
