Saraki for Senate Presidency now

Date: 2015-05-12

The Kwara state chapter of the Congress of Nigeria's Political Parties (CNPP) has joined the ever growing list of groups and individuals clamouring for the selection of Senator Abubakar Bukola Sareki (CON) as the Senate President of the in-coming 8th National Assembly.

This piece, submitted to The Herald was signed by the trio of Alhaji Adebayo A. Lawal (Chairman), Prince Olufemi Adeleke (Secretary) and Hon. Dave Abu Ifabiyi (PRO).

In the current euphoria of having achieved a deserved victory in the General Elections of March 28th and April 11, 2015, the All Progressives Congress (APC) should identify the roll call of all who worked assiduously for the Party's sweeping triumph in the 2015 General Elections to determine those to be recognised and rewarded accordingly.

Undoubtedly, one of the undisputed engineers of this triumph is no less a person than the Distinguished Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki now known and widely accepted as the reputable LEADER in Kwara State Politics. For the records, we all saw the huddles he had to jump to outwit all the nefarious antics of the outgoing government of President Goodluck Jonathan. He was viewed by all those in the out-going federal administration as their number one Political antagonist. They attempted unsuccessfully on several occasions to truncate the political career of this God-chosen Leader in the past two years after Dr. Bukola Saraki led five Governors out of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to fuse into the APC.

They did all unprintable things to discredit him and dim the bright star which he represented with failure dotting their footsteps all the way.

Now that the battle had been won by APC and lost by POP, the victorious party, APC must put their acts together and take the right decisions that would ensure that the administration of the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari lives up to the billings of the majority of Nigerians that voted for him and even those who did not vote for him.

The issue on the front burner right now is the Presidency of the Senate which must be made to remain in the North Central part of the country to forge the needed sense of belonging in the entire Middle-belt zone of Nigeria.

The North-East that had been grappling with the unfortunate incident of destructive insurgency must wait for another time so that every important position is not seen as having been confined to the core-north of the nation.

Exploring this positive line of thought, one would readily identify and single out one gladiator of high repute in the struggle for an APC victory as Dr. Bukola Saraki of Kwara State, who has every quality of a good leader that can bring in the desired innovation to ensure that this new incoming administration of General Buhari is successful to the expectation of all Nigerians. All negative sentiments must be brushed aside because, the Distinguished Senator has proved his mettle and has demonstrated his in-born ability to manage cricial issues efficiently and in always running successful administrations in both the private and public sectors of Nigeria.

One good example of this was his successful stint at the Federal Cabinet office before he got the reigns of power in Kwara State. In kwara State, he brought immense developments into the state during his never-to-be-forgotten two-term tenure as Governor from 2003 to 2011. All his achievements remain solidly on ground till date as the strong footing for the ensuing adminstration of Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed to consolidate, build and improve upon.

He had thus proved to all Kwarans and Nigerians that he is a dependable leader worthy of being supported to achieve greater things for the benefit of the masses of this great country.

The CNPP in Kwara State is today saying that the right decisions should be taken by all the powers that be in the APC and the new Senate Chambers to ensure that the right candidate is elected as the Senate President and no other Senator is worth routing for now than Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki (CON). The APC must be on guard so that the enemies of progress would not stampede the Party into making a wrong decision at this serious turning point in the history of Nigeria and the black race.

All Nigerians must therefore, come up in support of this worthy candidate for the Senate Presidency now to enable us achieve good governance and Dr. Saraki is one of the important players that would ensure the continuity of success and progress for the APC in the nation's political dispensation for many years ahead. We call on APC to get it right.

Long live the government and people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
