Press Release - Ministry of Energy Fire Outbreak: Gov Ahmed Orders Probe
Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has directed immediate investigation in to the fire outbreak that gutted the top floor of the State's Ministry of Energy with a view to determining its immediate and remote courses and those responsible for the
incident.
According to a statement issued by the Hon. Commissioner of Energy, Alhaji Musa Abdullahi, "The Governor advised all commissioners and head of agencies to put adequate fire prevention mechanism in place to avoid an outbreak of fire in their various organisations.
Meanwhile, the State Government has given assurances that the fire out break will not deter it in its commitment to the provision of energy related infrastructure across the State.
According to Alhaji Abdullahi, the fire which affected virtually all the offices on the top floor of the building was suspected to have been caused by electric power surge at about 8:00pm on Tuesday, 21st April, 2015.
“The fire outbreak of Tuesday night was an unfortunate and unexpected development that has led to loss of some offices, but we are happy that other vital sections of the ministry were not affected.
In this regard, we want to assure the people of the State that the resolve of the administration of Gov. Abdulfatah Ahmed to energize all parts of the State remains a priority”, he said.
The Commissioner expressed gratitude to all fire service agencies in the State, including those of state and federal government departments and agencies, security agencies who helped in bringing the fire under control before it could do further damage.
