Kwara LP guber candidate pledges 50 per cent varsity fee cut
The Labour Party governorship candidate in Kwara State, Dr. Mike Omotosho, has promised to slash the tuition fee of Kwara State University (KWASU) by 50 per cent if elected in the April 11 governorship election.
Daily Trust reports that the students currently pay N100,000 as tuition fee and the pledge, if implemented, would bring the fee to N50,000.
Addressing the people of Tsaragi community at the palace of Etsu Tsaragi, Alhaji A. Aliyu, during his campaign tour of the area, the LP candidate noted that the gesture would bring relief to indigent students.
He stressed that his administration would give priority to education, saying it would be a sin if any child is denied education under his administration.
Omotosho also promised massive job creation and infrastructural development for the community At Shonga, Omotosho said his administration would make rural development a priority and ensure basic amenities like roads, potable water and electricity supply are provided.
Earlier, the Emir of Shonga, Alhaji Haliru Yahaya, commended Omotosho for the "creative and peaceful way he has been carrying out his campaign".
The traditional ruler said the slogan, billboards, and media adverts of the LP gubernatorial candidate indicate creativity on the part of his team.
Omotosho and his team also visited Dumaji, Sancitagi, Chigangi, and Waripu communities to sensitize them on the fourth coming governorship polls.
He further promised to address the issues of poverty and neglect being experienced by people of the area and urged them not to sell their votes but use their voting power to secure a better future for their community.
