Dwindling allocations: Tackle oil theft, pipeline vandalisation, Kwara govt tells FG
The Kwara State government has called on the opposition party in the state, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to stop blackmailing it over false allegations of misappropriation of local governments funds in the state, but to appeal to the Federal Government to summon the political will to tackle the protracted problem of oil theft, pipeline vandalisation in Nigeria, "which have been responsible for gross reduction in federal allocations to the state since August, last year."
State Commissioner for Finance and Chairman Joint Account Allocation Committee, Alhaji Demola Banu stated this in Ilorin at the end of the monthly meeting of the committee.
Banu called on the opposition party to appeal to the Federal Government, which has failed to find a lasting solution to issues of oil theft and vandalisation of pipelines, saying that government has been attributing reduction in monthly allocation to all states, including PDP states to these problems for more than three years.
