Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, has commiserated with the family of late Nigerian football star, Mr. Moses Otolorin, who died on Monday at his Ilorin country home after a protracted illness.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Alhaji Abdulwahab Oba, Governor Ahmed described Otolorin, known for his famous long throw-in for the then Green Eagles, as "a Shining Star" not only to the people of the state but the whole football fraternity in Nigeria.
The governor, while praying for the repose of the soul of the football legend, said that the state would not forget in a hurry his quest to discover and nurture football talents for the state, "especially among the academics."
"We mourn the passing on of Otolorin. We are however consoled with the life he lived laying good examples for the younger footballers to emulate," observed the governor.
Ahmed added that, the late footballer committed and contributed his quota to football developments in our dear state and Nigeria as a country.
The governor urged the wife and children of the deceased to take solace in the legacies left behind by Otolorin and advised other sports loving Kwarans to emulate the life and time of the "patriot and committed Kwaran who brought glories to the state and the nation."
The deceased was a former midfielder with IICC Shooting Stars of Ibadan now christened, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC). He died at the age of 67 years.
