All guber aspirants must accept primary results - Kwara PDP
Leaders of Kwara State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday declared that all governorship aspirants under the party's platform must agree with the outcome of the November 29 primary election of the party.
Not less than 14 aspirants have signified interests in the position and full of activities to realise their individual aspirations, including offices and operating full scale campaign structures.
Led by former deputy governor, Chief Joel Ogundeji, the leaders spoke at the declaration ceremony of Engr Jani Ibrahim, a onetime president of National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, Alumni Association, allaying people's fears that the party would break over primary elections.
They reiterated their resolve to effect a change in the old order whereby an individual anoints and impose candidates on the people which they alleged had adversely affected the state for decades.
Speaking at the event, Ibrahim said he was driven with a passion to rescue the once robust and developed Kwara State that was the dream of the founding fathers, who laboured and died for the North Central state.
He listed his cardinal programmes to include job creation, agricultural revolution, natural resource development and a wide scale infrastructural development.
He said: "After 47 years of blighted opportunities, our people are entitled to a government that feels, plans and acts for the people. I am irrevocably committed to the emergence of such a government."
