Kwara Assembly passes revised budget

Date: 2014-10-16

Kwara State House of Assembly yesterday passed a revised 2014 Appropriation Bill of N115.6billion into law.

The earlier budget size passed by the House at the commencement of 2014 was N130.2bn. The passage followed a request by Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed which was sent to the House in August.

The revised budget which represented 11.6 percent decrease from the earlier budget, was passed after the adoption of the report of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation which worked on the bill.

Chairman of the Committee, Alhaji Suleiman ldris, urged the House to pass the bill into law.

According to the passed bill, the former capital expenditure which was N51.4bn now stands at N39.7bn, representing 22.62 percent decrease. The revised recurrent expenditure according to the bill is N65bn while the new capital receipt is N52. 4bn. Speaker Rasak Atunwa directed the Clerk of the House to produce a clean copy of the bill for the governor's assent.
