Gov Ahmed's second term endorsement, a popular decision - Alanamu
The newly appointed Chairman, Governing Board, Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, Dr. Saadu Koroagba Alanamu has described the endorsement of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed for another four years as a popular decision of all stakeholders.
He said the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Bukola Saraki did not announce Governor Ahmed's endorsement unilaterally.
Alanamu who was speaking with The Herald in Ilorin yesterday at his family house residence, Balogun Alanamu compound, Ilorin at a special prayer organized to mark his new appointment, said Saraki made wide consultation among the stakeholders before he finally endorsed Governor Ahmed for second term.
While describing Saraki as a man of the people, Alanamu said the leader of APC has always consulted the people at the grassroots and other stakeholders before taking any decision.
He said Saraki made the pronouncement based on the popular and collective decision of all stakeholders.
"Saraki is a very unique leader who believes in his followers and we also believe in him too. And coming out to say anything, it means it is a collective decision of all of us. So, wholeheartedly, I agree with our leader as far as Maigida's endorsement is concerned".
He said Governor Ahmed deserves a second term in view of his track record of achievements, commitment, sincerity of purpose and selfless service to the party and the people that elected him. "If there is third term, such a person must be considered".
He vowed that Alanamu ward, Kwara State and Nigeria at large will be delivered to APC in the 2015 general elections.
On his new appointment, Alanamu said staff welfare will be his major focus, saying that "if adequate attention is given to staff welfare, the desired goals will be achieved easily because staff are the instruments of achievement and service".
He commended the management of the institution over the improvement it had recently recorded, promising to do his best to make the improvement better. While dedicating the appointment to his family, he expressed appreciation to Alanamu family for organizing the prayer in his honour.
He advised people in positions of authority to always remember people at the grassroots through selfless service.
The spokesperson of the family, Alhaji Abdulkadir Alanamu said the prayer was orgainzed to seek God's guidance and protection for Alanamu in his new appointment.
While describing Alanamu as a contributor to the progress and development of his community and the state at large, he advised the appointee to bring his experience to bear in his new assignment.
The prayer session was led by Imam Alanamu Central Mosque, Imam Sheu Alfa-Adama, while the Balogun Alanamu of Ilorin, Alhaji Abubakar Akanbi Jos, the Chief Missioner of Al-Fatihu-l-Qureeb Muslim Organization of Nigeria, Ilorin main Branch, Sheikh Abdulsalam Alanamu were among dignitaries in attendance at the prayer session.
