The State Governor, Dr. Bukola Saraki disclosed the cheering news on Monday at Share, headquarters of Ifelodun Local Government, during an interactive session with members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Kwara South Senatorial District.
According to him, details of the work schedule on the renovation exercise which will cut across the entire State would soon be released by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.
The sum of One billion naira the governor said was made available by the Federal Government while the remaining balance of one billion naira was provided by the State Government as its counterpart funding.
Dr Saraki, who also held similar interactive sessions with PDP members from Kwara North and Central at Tsaragi (Edu) and Oke-Oyi (Ilorin East) Local Government Councils respectively, called on the people of the State to obtain the new voter’s card to enable them elect candidates of their choice at the forthcoming general election next year.
He described the forthcoming voter’s registration exercise in January next year as very crucial to the nation’s political development, pointing out that only those who obtain voter’s card would have the opportunity to participate in the 2011 election.
Governor Saraki, who appealed to party members and supporters to eschew violence at the ward congress election where delegates for the party primaries would be elected, prayed God for a credible successor to take over from him in May next year.
Earlier, the State Deputy Governor, Chief Joel Ogundeji had called on the people to vote massively for PDP so as to sustain the governor’s legacies and urged politicians not to be desperate in their bid to secure the mandate of the people.
The State Chairman of PDP, Alhaji Yusuf Ayedun, who stressed the importance of voter’s card to the party members and supporters, enjoined them to remain consistent and faithful to the party to further enhance its success at the general election.
In their separate remarks, the Senatorial Chairmen for Kwara Central, North and South, Alhajis Jimoh Adeshina, Isiaka Oniwa and Salihu Yusuf praised Governor Saraki for the great transformation the State had witnessed under his administration in all the sectors and assured him of the total support of members of the party in their Senatorial Districts.
A cross-section of other speakers from the three Senatorial Districts of the State assured Dr Saraki of their overwhelming support to ensure the success of the party in next year’s general election.
A total of three delegates per ward were expected to be elected in the 193 wards across the State who will in turn participate at the party’s primaries to elect its flag bearers for the National Assembly, Governorship and State House of Assembly election.
