Entrepreneurial Skills: Ahmadu Bello Foundation Trains 115 Kwarans
A total of 115 women and youths in Kwara state at the weekend concluded the one-month entrepreneurship and vocational workshop organised for them by Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation.
During the course of the workshop, the participants drawn from the 16 local government areas of the state were given intensive training and lecture on the making of Kampala textile, soap making, food processing, among other vocations that would enable them to be self-reliant.
Speaking at the closing of the workshop, the Managing Director of the foundation, Dr. Shettima Ali said that the programme was designed to develop the capacities of women and youth on entrepreneurship and production skills in various trades.
He said the workshop has not only sensitized and mobilized participants but also developed hands-on skills for the creation of jobs and promotion of self-reliance.
"The foundation based on its vision and mission strongly believes that the way to arrest the glaring inadequacy of vocational and entrepreneurial skills among our teeming women and youth is to motivate and prepare them to develop their capacities to take up the challenge and be masters of their destiny," Ali said.
The wife of Kwara state governor, Mrs. Omolewa Ahmed noted that entrepreneurship is a veritable tool to engage the youth whom she said constitutes more than 50 per cent of the state's population.
Represented by Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Women Affairs, Mrs. Kikeloma Amosa, Mrs. Ahmed urged the participants to make the best use of the training to become successful entrepreneurs.
