Police suspend rallies, political meetings in Kwara

Date: 2014-08-19

The Kwara State Police Command has suspended rallies, processions and political meetings throughout the state with immediate effect.

The Command’s spokesperson, Mr. Ajayi Okasanmi in a statement on Tuesday also warned political parties, their supporters and party agents to steer clear of the PVC registration centres in the eight Local Government Areas of the state.

The Independent National Electoral Commission will conduct fresh registration in affected places of the eight LGAs of the state from
Wednesday to Monday next week.

Okasanmi warned that the registration centres are not places to be used for playing party politics.

“The Kwara State Police Command will not hesitate to deal with any person or group of people that will want to foment trouble at the
various registration centres.

“Meanwhile rallies, procession and political meetings have been suspended throughout the State with immediate effect, please,”
Okesanmi said.
