Kwara Utd denies accusing LMC of its relegation woes
The club in statement on Thursday jointly signed by Alhaji Haruna Maigidasanma and Elder Dele Oguntokun, its Manager and Secretary respectively, said the Afonja Warriors have always enjoyed the support of various football bodies in the country.
The statement described a report days ago blaming the LMC for the team's relegation last season as a misinterpretation of what the coach quoted in the story said.
The club also said that the LMC played a professional role during the said period.
According to the coach quoted in the story, Ali Zubair, said he only told the reporter that there are some circumstances which surrounded the team's relegation from the top flight but denied accusing the LMC.
"I was misquoted in the story, because I never said the LMC was responsible for our relegation
"The LMC didn't attack the referee so how would I have accused the body for that
"We have learnt from our mistakes and we are working hard to avoid such again
"The present management have done a lot to avert a repeat of what led to our relegation last season" Zubair said in the statement.
The statement commended the LMC for taking the game to the next level in the country and described the smooth running of the 2013/2014 Nigeria National League (NNL) where it is currently campaigning as one of the best ever.
It commended the board of the NNL for the smooth programmes and the Nigeria Referees Association (NRA), for raising its standard.
The statement called on fans and supporters of the club to desist from any form of action that can undermine the success recorded so far.
It commended the state government particularly Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, for making the team's welfare a top priority.
Kwara United will lock horns with Niger Tornadoes on Saturday in Minna in a week 24 encounter of the NNL.
The Afonja Warriors currently occupied the second position in group A of the National League, one point behind the group leader, Wikki Tourist of Bauchi.
