KWSG Warns Former Owners to Hands-Off Grant Aided Schools.
This warning was handed-down by the state government in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Isiaka Gold, in Ilorin, the state capital.
Alhaji Gold said that although the government at the instance of their proprietors acquired government-grant-aided schools, such a move conferred all assets, liabilities, and administration of the said institutions on the state government.
The Secretary to the State Government therefore advised such stakeholders of the Government-grant-aided schools to refrain from undue interference in the running of schools, especially posting of teachers and appointment of principals as this was capable of fanning the embers of discord in such schools, especially through religious intolerance.
Continuing, Alhaji Gold stressed that although government had encouraged community participation in the spirit of public-private partnership, this concession does not in anyway cede the ownership of such institutions to their previous owners.
Government, he said, remains committed to creating an enabling environment for functional education and will frown at any undue interference or attempt to promote sentiments inimical to peace and harmony in the state no matter the status of those involved.
