Use Lar's death to restore justice in PDP - Atunwa

Stakeholders in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Nigeria have been urged to use the demise of its pioneer national Chairman, Chief Solomon Lar as a platform for restoring equity, justice and egalitarianism in the ruling party.

The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly Barrister Razak Atunwa made the call in Ilorin while reacting to the death of the first civilian Governor of plateau State.

Barrister Atunwa in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Alhaji AbdulRahman Sanni said the death of the elderly statesman should serve as a platform to reflect on issues threatening the existence of the ruling party in particular and the nation’s hard-won democracy.

He noted that Chief Lar whose political participation dated to pre-independence era had sacrificed his life towards the enthronement of democracy and stability of the nation.

The Speaker insisted that the great patriot must not die in vain, pointing out that the prevailing condition of the nation called for sober reflection

Barrister Atunwa called for greater sacrifice and tolerance of opposing views in the bid to strengthen the nation’s democracy and her corporate existence.

He urged Nigerians to sustain the deceased’s legacies by imbibing the virtue of sacrifice, tolerance and high sense of patrioticism to salvage the nation from the verge of collapse.

Barrister Atunwa while condoling the deceased’s family, government and people of Plateau State, prayed God to grant him eternal rest, the family government and people of Plateau State the fortitude to bear the loss.
