Lawmaker disburses over N1.2m monthly stipends to constitution in Kwara
The Senator representing Kwara South Senatorial District, Senator Simeon Ajibola, has disbursed over N1.2 million as monthly stipend to some beneficiaries from the seven local government areas in his senatorial district.
Speaking at the event in Isapa, Ekiti Local Government Area of the state, recently, Senator Ajibola said that he embarked on the payment of monthly stipend since 2011 to ameliorate sufferings of the people in the district as part of his empowerment scheme.
He said that the stipend ranged from N10,000 to N20,000 with about 65 beneficiaries.
"Apart from embarking on physical empowerment through delivery of equipment, there is a need to place some on stipend to meet family obligations," he said.
The lawmaker also advised politicians to shun campaign of calumny in order to encourage elected political office holders on provision of democratic dividends to electorate.
Senator Ajibola also said that some politicians, out of hatred for those in power make unfounded allegations of non-performance against elected officials.
"There is need for our politicians to encourage those of us who have the interest of our constituents at heart to do more to better their lots. The pull-him-down syndrome must stop to move our society forward," he said.
Also speaking, Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti Local Government, Chief Samuel Ogunrinde, commended the lawmaker for his humane gesture and urged him not to relent in his humanitarian gesture to the people of the senatorial district and the state at large.
