Kwara LG Poll: KWSIEC seeks police support
The Chairman of Kwara Independent Electoral Commission (KWASIEC),Dr. Uthman Ajidagba has solicited the support of the State Police Command for successful LG poll.
Ajidagba made the call on Thursday in IIorin when he paid a courtesy visit to the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Agboola Oshodi-Glover.
The visit of Chairman and members of the commission to the Commissioner was in continuation of meeting with stakeholders on how to ensure successful poll.
The Chairman who described the role of Police in the conduct of election as crucial urged the command to provide adequate security before, during and after the election.
"The task before the commission is enormous and we cannot execute alone, we need the police and other stakeholders assistance", Ajidagba said.
Responding, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Oshodi-Glover assured the state Electoral Commission of the readiness of the command to ensure the conduct of credible LG poll in the state.
The Commissioner advised the commission to allow transparency, fairness, justice and honesty to all political parties be their guiding principle in the discharge of their assignment.
In a similar vein, the chairman warned Youths in the state to desist from being used to foment trouble before, during and after the council poll.
He gave this warning in his office while receiving the management members of the state signate and Advertisement Agency led by its Director-General, Alhaji Ahmed Olufadi during a courtesy call.
Ajidagba who described the Youth as future Leaders urged them to compliment the effort of the commission in its bid to conduct a hitch free council poll in the state.
