The Kwara State Government has said it will assist the Dangote Group of Companies to acquire a 50-hectare sugar cane plantation and rice mill in Patigi, in the Edu Local Government Area of the State.

This is contained in a statement issued on Friday in Ilorin by the Director-General, Kwara State Bureau of Lands, Alhaji Yusuf Abdulwahab.

The director-general made the announcement after a meeting with Alhaji Issa Tata, a representative of the Dangote Group.

"In an effort to promote investment opportunities in the state, the state government has called on the general public, companies and individuals to come and invest in Kwara,'' Abdulwahab said.

The statement noted that the DG had promised to cooperate with the company to acquire the land, adding that the property would be monitored by the state's Surveyor-General.

Abdulwahab called on the company to encourage its counterparts to invest in the state, adding that Kwara was blessed with numerous natural resources.

The statement also quoted Tata as applauding the state government for the privilege given to the company, while promising to make life better and meaningful for the people in the area.
