A suspected kidnapper, Jacob Olaniyan, has been arraigned before an Ilorin Magistrate's Court in Kware State, for allegedly stabbing Bola Popoola, a school teacher, with a knife for ritual purpose.

The accused was alleged to have stabbed the victim, working at Dolapo Group of Schools in Ilorin all over her body on May 31, along Tanke Area, Ilorin.

According to the charge sheet, the accused stabbed the victim when she was on her way to buy food for her breakdast. The victim's shout for help attracted some roadside mechanics who ran to the scene and rescued her from the kidnapper.

The prosecutor, Inspector Baliqees Adu, told the court that investigation revealed that the accused was a habitual criminal and had killed a mother and daughter at Tanke area five years ago.

According to her, "The accused was arraigned on a two-count charge of causing grievous hurt and attempt to commit culpable homicide contrary to Sections 248 of the Penal Code Law."

She, however, objected to the bail of the accused on the ground that the alleged offences were not ordinarily bailable.

In his ruling, the magistrate, Mr. Moses Adeniyi, ordered the remand of the accused in Mondala Prison Yard, Ilorin and adjourned the case to June 18.
