The authority of the Kwara State Polytechnic has confirmed the shooting of a taxi in which one of its students, Ahmed Dayo of the Department of Accounting (ND 1) was incidentally hit by bullet in the leg.
According to the statement made available to newsmen by the institution’s Public Relation Officer, Mr Abdulkadri Yunus, the student is said to be alive and sound contrary to some media report that the student is dead, noting that his condition is stable as he is being promptly attended to by medical experts at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH).
The authority of the polytechnic therefore appealed to the students to be calm as necessary actions are being taken to maintain peace and order, stressing that the authority of the institution will do its best to protect the lives and property of the students.
It would be recalled that commercial and social activities were yesterday paralyzed in Ilorin metropolis following protest by students of the Kwara State Polytechnic whose colleague was allegedly shot by police escort of one of the leading banks.
