Cash boost for Kwara United

Date: 2013-05-25

The financial fortunes of Kwara United have taken an upward trajectory following the release of N50million by the state government.

Players of the club were reported to have embarked on a warning strike prior to their 1-1 home draw with Dolphins last weekend as a result of the non-payment of their match bonuses and several other allowances.

But respite came the way of the players when news of the financial lifeline from Governor Abdulfatai Ahmed was announced to them a few hours to the kick-off of their midweek away game with Lobi Stars.

The Afonja Warriors went in to win the game 1-0 courtesy of a goal scored by Adamu Yahaya in the 41st minute of the game.

Kwara United play host to Kano Pillars in a Week 15 encounter at the Kwara State Stadium later on Saturday.
