Government has a lot to do - NURTW.
The Nigeria Union Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Ilorin branch has lamented that the Nigeria government has a lot to do in order to promote national security in Nigeria.
This was made known on by the Secretary of Nigeria Union of Road Transport Workers, Ilorin branch, Alhaji Suleiman, during the sensitization campaign on national security organized by the Federal Information Centre, Ilorin to sensitize the public on the importance of national security to the development on Nigeria.
Alhaji Suleiman argued that the national amnesty of dialogue with Boko-Haram should not be encouraged. "Since their case was neither a religious nor that championing ethnic group's as they are attacking and killing people of all religions and ethnic groups", he explained.
He added that the issue of Boko-Haram is more of political problems while he suggested that government should dialogue with the stakeholders and some national figures in the affected areas.
Another member of the Nigeria Union Road Transport Workers, who choose to remain anonymous, opined that unemployment is one of the major threats to national security; adding that, government should seriously address the issue. He enjoined government to reduce tuition fees in Nigeria institutions.
A member also pointed an accusing finger at politicians for the woeful security situation in Nigeria, because, according to him, they employed youths as thugs and teach them the use of hard drugs including the use of arms on the society.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Centre who is also at the head of the team, Sade Boriowo, implored the public to be security conscious and be vigilant within their environments, their various homes and schools. He added that they should immediately report any suspicious character or movements noticed anywhere to law enforcements agents nearest to them as well as avoid suspicious parcels.
Another campaign team member, Mallam Abdul Kazeem explained that there is bound to be differences amongst people living together; while these differences should be settled through dialogue and not through physical force, violence or by taking up arms.
