Kwara Hunts for Football Talent

Date: 2013-04-24

The maiden edition of the Kwara State 2013 street soccer 5-a-side competition has been scheduled to kick off next month as part of government’s drive to hunt for football talents in the state.

The talents discovered will be transformed into a standing State team, and by extension a vision which would benefit all League teams in the State including Kwara United and ABS FC, according to a statement by the organisers of the sports event.

It would be recalled that the office of the Special Assistant on Sports, Alhaji Toyin Olokoba had introduced the Maigida Talents’ Hunt in both Football and Boxing and also the Governor’s Cup among all Secondary Schools in the State.

The 5-aside competition which will be coordinated by Olokoba has been approved by the State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed with all the political office holders in the state expected to sponsor teams in their constituencies.

The project will ensure the engagement of youths in each ward and district in all the 16 Local Government areas of the State.
