Plumbers Embark on Free Repair of Water Pipes in Kwara
Plumbers in Kwara State have carried out free repair of burst water pipes as a way of complementing the state government in the provision of potable water for domestic and industrial uses.
The plumbers, under the umbrella of the Nigeria Professional Plumbers Association, Kwara State chapter purchased large quantity of water pipe and other water equipment to replace damaged ones in all parts of the state.
Community News gathered that many members of the association abandoned their private jobs to participate in the exercise in Ilorin.
The state president of the association, Comrade Clement Ojo-Orire, while speaking with Community News during the exercise he said the free water pipe repair took place in all the three senatorial districts of the state.
He said the association embarked on the gesture to complement the effort of the three-tiers of government towards ensuring availability of potable water.
“Water is life, since there is nobody that does not need it informed our decision to embark on free repair of pipes to guard against wastage,” Ojo-Orire said.
He gave an assurance that all parts of the state would benefit from the gesture.
Mr Ojo-Orire warned the people of the state against wasting water or engage in acts that could contaminate water.
The president of the association praised the effort of the state government on the constant provision of potable water to people of the state.
Ojo-Orire also said that the free repair of water pipes would be a continuous exercise to assist government in the provision of potable water.
Some of the residents of IIorin who spoke with Community News on the exercise expressed their gratitude to the association for the kind gesture.
