ANA Secures Funds for Second Yusuf Ali Reading Campaign

The Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) has secured funding for the second year of its ANA/Yusuf Ali Reading Campaign.

The Association's present executive committee led by Remi Raji and Mallam B. M. Dzukogi, have successfully turned the Association around from the yearly Convention-oriented mindset of previous years.

The association's President has consistently reiterated that his executive will seek institutional support for activities in the consolidated manifesto of the 2011/13 EXCO. In line with this, the Association secured N3,000,000 from Barrister Yusuf Ali, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, for a reading campaign which was carried out from June 12th to July 3rd, 2012.

The 16 State Chapters benefitted from the funds and each got a grant of N150,000 in the 2012 campaign.

Following the success of the 2012 campaign across the country, Barr. Ali has released funds for the 2013 campaign with a promise to continuously support the campaign.

Commenting on the development, the General Secretary of ANA, Mal. BM Dzukogi said he was elated especially as "the 2012 campaign was immensely successful, and students and teachers from across the country have expressed their gratitude to the Association for stepping in practically in the encouragement of reading."

While commenting on the new grant, the President of the association, Prof. Remi Raji, said: "ANA's partnership with Barr. Yusuf Ali goes to show that the New ANA mindset of the 2011/13 EXCO is yielding desired results.

"Barr. Yusuf Ali's reposing of trust in the Association is also a statement of his satisfaction with the execution of the campaign last year. We will draw up a list of chapters who will benefit from the campaign this year and make it public; the funds will be disbursed at the next Council of Chairmen and Secretaries meeting holding in April at Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital," he said.

Prof. Remi Raji also called on more institutions and personalities to partner with the association in the way Yusuf Ali, Mrs. Babangida Aliyu and the YSGHubs group have done in the last one year.
