Kwara Fulani Community Backs AbdulRazaq, Endorses Danladi for 2027 Governorship Race
The Fulani community in Kwara State has passed a vote of confidence in Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, citing what it described as his administration's inclusive governance and achievements in socio-economic development.
The community also endorsed the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly and the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Rt. Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi, ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The endorsement was announced during a press conference in Ilorin attended by representatives of the Fulbe Development and Cultural Organisation (FUDECO), Fulani communities and other Fulani associations across the state.
Speaking on behalf of the groups, the Chairman of FUDECO, Kwara State Chapter, Hon. Saliu Umar Sanda, commended Governor AbdulRazaq for what he described as his commitment to fairness, justice and inclusive governance.
He said the administration had given members of the Fulani community a greater sense of belonging through appointments into strategic government positions.
According to him, more than six qualified members of the community have been appointed as Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants and other public office holders, a development he described as unprecedented in the state's history.
Sanda also praised the administration's achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment, rural development and other people-oriented programmes.
He particularly applauded the establishment of the Ministry of Livestock Development, describing it as a landmark initiative that recognises the importance of the livestock sector to Kwara's economy.
Reaffirming the community's support for the governor, Sanda appealed for more appointments, empowerment programmes, educational opportunities and agricultural interventions to further improve the welfare of Fulani communities across the state.
In his remarks, former Special Assistant on Fulani Affairs, Hon. Abdulsalam Atiku, announced the endorsement of Rt. Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi by Fulani socio-cultural organisations as the APC governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
He said the groups believe Danladi possesses the leadership qualities, experience and vision required to sustain the achievements of the AbdulRazaq administration.
According to Atiku, the endorsement is based on expectations that a Danladi administration would strengthen inclusive governance, improve security, expand nomadic education, support pastoralists and farming communities, empower youths and women, and promote peaceful coexistence across the state.
He urged Fulani communities and APC supporters to remain united and mobilise support for all APC candidates during the 2027 general elections.
Also speaking, the Ado Baruten, Alhaji Hassan Yusuf, expressed confidence that Danladi would consolidate on the achievements of Governor AbdulRazaq if elected.
He called on members of the Fulani community to continue supporting the present administration and work towards the success of APC candidates in the 2027 polls.
