KWBC Reaffirms Commitment to Religious Harmony, Partners Hijrah Organisation Ahead of New Year Celebration
The General Manager of the Kwara State Broadcasting Corporation (KWBC), Kayode Aremu, has reiterated the corporation's commitment to partnering with relevant stakeholders in promoting religious harmony and peaceful coexistence across Kwara State.
Aremu made this known on Tuesday while receiving the leadership of the Hijrah Islamic Organisation in his office.
According to him, the corporation has continued to serve as a major platform for the promotion of religious tolerance and unity in the state's diverse society. He noted that the Hijrah period remains a significant event in the Muslim world and stressed the importance of educating younger generations about its values and historical significance.
He added that fostering mutual understanding among people of different faiths remains essential to sustaining peace and development in the state.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Hijrah Islamic Organisation in Kwara State, Raheem Bio, explained that the organisation was established in 1980 to promote awareness of the Islamic calendar and encourage its widespread use, particularly among Muslims.
Bio disclosed that the organisation's membership spans all 16 local government areas of the state, adding that the late Justice Abdulkadir Orire served as its pioneer chairman.
He further announced that this year's Hijrah celebration is scheduled to hold next Tuesday at the Kwara State Stadium Complex from 9:00 a.m.
According to him, the event is expected to attract prominent personalities, including the Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who is billed to attend as the Special Guest of Honour.
The Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, Emir of Ilorin, is expected to serve as the Royal Father of the Day, while other notable guests expected at the event include Mustapha Kamaldeen and Adam Habeebullahi Al-Ilory.
The organisers said the celebration would provide an opportunity to reflect on the lessons of Hijrah and promote unity, faith, and moral values within society.
