200 Widows, Single Mothers Receive Food Items in OFM Charity Ramadan Outreach
No fewer than 200 widows and single mothers in Ilorin, Kwara State, have benefited from the annual Ramadan outreach organised by the Olushola Folake Mutiat (OFM) Charity Organisation.
The initiative, titled Annual Ramadan Feed the Widows and Single Mothers Project, aims to support vulnerable women during the Ramadan fasting period and help ease their daily struggles.
During the outreach, beneficiaries received essential food items including rice, beans, maize, seasoning cubes and salt.
The humanitarian effort was made possible through the support of several prominent individuals within Kwara State and members of the Nigerian diaspora.
Amongst them are the founder of Al-Hikmah University, Alhaji Abdulraheem Oladimeji; senior legal practitioner Yusuf Ali (SAN); Abdulrahman Abdulrauf Adesina; and a New York-based Nigerian, Mutiat Adebola Yusuf.
Others who supported the initiative include the Emir of Shonga, Alhaji Haliru Yahaya, and Yaqub Daud of Ghalib Chambers.
Speaking at the event, Islamic scholar, Sheikh Lukman Isalekoto commended the donors for their generosity and urged the beneficiaries to also cultivate the spirit of giving, noting that charity is not reserved for the wealthy alone.
He also advised mothers to prioritise both western and Islamic education for their children in order to raise well-rounded individuals. He further encouraged widows and single mothers to remain steadfast in their faith and always put Allah first in their affairs.
Sheikh Isalekoto offered prayers for Allah's continued blessings and guidance for the founder of the charity organisation and all those who contributed to the outreach.
Founder of the OFM Charity Organisation, Olushola Folake Mutiat, expressed appreciation to the donors for their unwavering support, stating that their contributions have helped the foundation fulfil its vision of assisting the less privileged.
She called on Nigerians to embrace compassion and charity, whilst also encouraging the beneficiaries to remain strong and hopeful.
Some of the beneficiaries also expressed gratitude to the foundation, urging the founder not to relent in her humanitarian efforts as the initiative continues to make a meaningful difference in their lives.
