The Our Community First Foundation (OCFF), a civil society organisation, has conducted an environmental sanitation exercise within the Alanamu community, located in the Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State. This activity was part of ongoing efforts to encourage environmental responsibility and promote public health.

The exercise took place on Sunday, 4 January 2026, as part of the foundation's "Keep Our Environment Clean" campaign and lasted for approximately two hours. During the initiative, OCFF volunteers swept the streets and removed heaps of refuse from key locations, including the Alanamu Market, the Alanamu community, and the adjacent Akata community.

While speaking during the event, the Team Lead of OCFF, Dr Abdulkabeer Salihu Olarewaju, stated that the initiative was designed to raise environmental consciousness and motivate residents to take responsibility for their surroundings. He further remarked that maintaining a clean environment is vital for the prevention of diseases and the improvement of the general quality of life.

Community leaders described the intervention as timely. Daudu Elegbejila, Alhaji Muhammed Baba Ilyas, who spoke on behalf of the community, commended OCFF for its commitment, stating that the clean-up had improved sanitation and contributed positively to public health in the area.

OCFF urged residents to sustain the culture of cleanliness and support community-driven initiatives, stressing that collective action remains key to building a healthier and safer environment across Kwara State.
