Kwara Police Intercept Arms Courier with 100 Rounds of AK-47 Ammunition

Date: 2025-12-06

The Kwara State Government has announced that police operatives have intercepted an arms courier carrying 100 rounds of live AK-47 ammunition concealed amongst personal effects in a vehicle along the Gbugbu/Patigi road in the state.

The live AK-47 ammunition rounds were concealed among the personal possessions of the suspects, along with various charms, in the vehicle which carried four other occupants, the state government confirmed.

It added that the vehicle, driven by Owolaramfe Rafiu, had four other occupants—Musa Mohammed, Adam Alhaji Lawal, and Musa Shaibu—who have all been arrested.

The State Government further stated that a co-ordinated effort is underway to identify and apprehend the intended receiver of the ammunition, while the suspects are in police custody.

The vehicle was intercepted at approximately 07:30 hrs on Friday during a routine stop-and-search operation along the Gbugbu/Patigi road.

The arrest of the arms courier came barely 24 hours after a medical doctor was arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services for transporting medical supplies from Sokoto State to kidnapping gangs operating in Kwara State.
