Kwara State Police officers have arrested Mahmud Ahmad, a serial offender allegedly involved in attacking and robbing two female University of Ilorin students on the school's research farm.

Police Commissioner Adekimi Ojo revealed that Ahmad, who had just completed a one-year jail term at Ilorin Correctional Centre and was recently released, targeted the students. He stated during a weekend briefing in Ilorin that the suspect followed the victims from their residence to the farm, where he attacked them and stole cash and valuables.

Commissioner Ojo emphasized the Kwara State Police Command's commitment to public safety and campus security, noting the arrest was part of ongoing efforts to tackle crime. The incident occurred on 29 May 2025.

"At approximately 1840hrs, two female students of the University of Ilorin were attacked and robbed while working in the University Research Farm area. The assailant dispossessed the victims of two mobile phones, a handbag containing a power bank, and N4,800.00.

"Upon receipt of the distress report, operatives of the command swiftly launched intelligence-led investigative actions, which culminated in the arrest of the suspect, one Mahmud Ahmad, at about 2100hrs within the vicinity of the University Researchers' Lodge."
