Kwara Govt Boosts Otte-Oja PHC with Multi-Million Naira Medical Equipment
In a significant push to enhance community healthcare, the Kwara State Government has equipped Otte-Oja Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Asa Local Government Area with multi-million naira medical equipment.
During the official handover ceremony, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina Ahmed El-Imam, urged residents of Otte-Oja and surrounding communities to utilise the upgraded facility.
Dr. El-Imam emphasised that sustained community engagement with the health centre would incentivise the government to further invest in additional equipment and healthcare staffing. “Your consistent use of this facility demonstrates its value and ensures continued support from the state,” she stated.
“Whatever we have been given must be put to judicious use, as these medical items are meant to serve the people. While government is doing its part, individuals must also play their roles. Therefore avoid self-medication and take advantage of government interventions in the health sector," She added.
The Commissioner also stressed the importance of safeguarding the newly supplied equipment, urging the community to take collective responsibility in securing the items for sustainable use.
Also Speaking at the event, the Chairman of Asa Local Government, Alhaji Shehu Yahyah, expressed deep appreciation to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for his tireless efforts at transforming the healthcare landscape, particularly in rural areas.
In his Goodwill message, the Chairman, Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (KWSUBEB), Professor Shehu Adaramaja, reaffirmed the community's unwavering support for the present administration.
He highlighted the Governor's consistent attention to the needs of Asa Local Government and the positive impact it continues to make on the lives of residents.
The equipment supplied to the health center includes essential tools such as; laboratory equipment, immunization apparatus, oxygen apparatus, stretchers, examination couches, drip stands, digital and manual sphygmomanometers, Littmann stethoscopes.
Others are beddings, pillows and other vital materials required to deliver effective and efficient healthcare services.
It is noteworthy that this intervention is part of Kwara State Government's broader agenda to revamp primary healthcare facilities across the state, to ensure that even the most remote communities receive the care and support they deserve.
