Islamic Scholar Dr. Fagba Applauds Kwara Governor's Achievements in Peace and Development at Ramadan Lecture
Dr Saddam Hussein Fagba, an Islamic scholar and Associate Professor of Law at the University of Ilorin, has praised Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State for restoring peace to Ilorin shortly after taking office in 2019.
Speaking at the second edition of the AA Ramadan Lecture held at the residence of Governor AbdulRazaq in Surulere, Ilorin, last Saturday, Dr Fagba reflected on the governor's swift eradication of widespread thuggery that had plagued the city prior to his election. He highlighted how the governor's leadership had brought tranquility not only to Ilorin but to every corner of the state.
The scholar further commended the governor's infrastructure development projects across Kwara, describing them as unprecedented and transformative. Dr Fagba noted that the Ilorin people were deeply impressed by these efforts, which have significantly improved the quality of life and security for residents.
The AA Ramadan Lecture, themed around Islamic values and community development, attracted prominent attendees, including government officials, legislators, traditional leaders, and members of the public.
Speaking to the theme of the lecture:”
Our identity as Ummah – a collective responsibility,” Fagba said Islam is the legacy of Ilorin.
He blamed youths decadence on parental neglect, lamenting that:” Parents don't take training of their children seriously.”
In his own lecture, the national missioner of Ansarul Islam Society of Nigeria, Sheikh Hanafi Ayara corroborated the earlier speaker by saying:” Everything about Ilorin is Islam “.
He stressed the need for parents to return their children to Madrasa ( Arabic schools) for proper moral upbringing.
Sheikh Ayara also enjoined the people of Ilorin to love one another and unite as their forefathers did in laying solid foundation for the family.
“Ilorin should unite as one. We should return to our old ways of doing things,” he emphasised.
The senior adviser and counselor to Kwara State governor, Alh Saadu Salahu, said the Ramadan lecture series are being organised in recognition of the governor's avowed commitment to the wellbeing of the people and the growth of the state.
In a brief remark, a stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alh Usman Bibire Ajape, hailed Governor AbdulRazaq's prudent management of the state's resources.
