Commissioner for Education, Dr Olohungbebe Calls for Punctuality, Dedication Among Public School Staff
The Kwara State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr Lawal Olohungbebe, has urged teachers and other staff in state-owned public schools to prioritise punctuality and diligence in their roles.
This directive was issued during oversight visits conducted by the commissioner alongside officials from the Ministry of Education to selected schools in Ilorin. He implored the staff to avoid laziness and absenteeism, encouraging them to align their efforts with the government's commitment to delivering quality education.
Dr Olohungbebe explained that the visits aimed to motivate teachers and reinforce their dedication to their responsibilities. He highlighted the importance of their contributions in complementing the administration's initiatives, particularly in upgrading school infrastructure under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's leadership.
A principal from one of the visited schools praised Governor AbdulRazaq for his transformative investments in educational facilities, stating that such improvements inspire both students and faculty to excel.
"This is an oversight visit for me to have first-hand information about your level of compliance with the guidelines and directives of the ministry. I am here to see that the right thing is being done by both the staff and the students," he noted.
He commended the management and staff of the schools he visited for maintaining clean and safe environments, urging them to sustain the practice.
For her part, the Junior Principal of the Government Day Secondary School, Tanke, Mrs Adebara Janet Olufunke, applauded the present administration in revamping the education sector in the state through provision of more classrooms and the re-construction of the school's fence.
She, therefore, on behalf of the management and staff of the school, assured the commissioner of their readiness to reciprocate the kind gesture of the government in improving the quality of education.
The schools visited were Queen Elizabeth School (Ilorin West), Government Secondary School, Ilorin (Ilorin East), Community Secondary School, Sango-Eleboto, Fate-Basin Secondary School, Fate, and Government Day Secondary School, Tanke, all in Ilorin South Local Government Area of the State.
