National Youth Council Confirms Validity of Kwara Chapter Leadership
According to Daily Trust, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has affirmed that the leadership of its Kwara State chapter, under Comrade Alli Nasiru Yusuf, remains valid.
In a letter addressed to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, signed by NYCN's National President, Ambassador Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, and Secretary General, Comrade Abubakar Suleiman, the body made it clear that Yusuf remains the authentic chairman of the council in Kwara State.
This clarification comes after a letter by Comrade Mukhtar Akoshile, NYCN Vice President for North Central, announcing the dissolution of the state chapter. However, in its communication with the Governor, the national headquarters of the NYCN debunked the alleged dissolution, distancing itself from the announcement.
The body said at a management meeting held in August in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital, attended by comrade Yusuf, it was resolved that all congresses should be on hold till November.
The NYCN further said Akoshile lacked the constitutional capacity to write such a dissolution letter or issue such a directive.
It added that “only the secretary, under the directive of the president, has the capacity to do such”.
“We, therefore, urge the state governor and other relevant stakeholders to continue their smooth working relationship with the current executive led by Yusuf.
“The governor would be officially informed when the chapter elects a new executive”, it added.
