Man Arraigned Over Theft Of Engine Oil, 72 Motorcycle Tubes

According to a news report from Daily Trust, a 35-year-old man, AbdulYekeen Babatunde, who resides in the Baboko area of Ilorin, has been brought before the court on charges of shop/housebreaking and theft.

The suspect is accused of stealing car engine oil and related items with a total value of over one million naira. He was arraigned under sections 348, 353, and 287 of the penal code.

The complainants, Oluwayanju Rotimi from Irewolede area and Shuaib Aishat from Oja Iya Street, Ilorin, reported that the suspect broke into their shops on separate occasions and made off with various items.

The police first information report (FIR) lists some of the stolen items as over 110 gallons of engine oil of various brands, 17 cans of brake oil, 72 motorcycle tubes, 56 Matex ATF, 200 black cello tapes, a solar battery/panel, a gas cylinder, and cash, among others, with an estimated total value of over N1.3 million.

The police told the court that some of the stolen items were recovered from the suspects.

The defence counsel, Barrister Toyin Onaolapo, prayed the court to grant his client bail

In his ruling, Magistrate Shade Lawal, granted the suspect bail and adjourned the case to August 11, 2024.
