Kwara CP: Ex-Convicts Cause Terror Among Residents
According to a news report from Daily Trust, the Kwara State Police Command has voiced apprehension regarding the actions of certain ex-convicts.
Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya, highlighted the challenge posed by these individuals, stating that they caused disturbances even after their release, keeping law enforcement officials on edge.
Olaiya said, “We have a case of an ex-convict who was recently released after serving a 10-year jail term. But the day he was released from jail, his gang members who were waiting for him lodged him in a hotel and together with his colleagues went straight back to crime. “That fellow later gave us sleepless nights for six months, terrorising the community, before we arrested him recently. He has now returned to the correctional centre in Oke-Kura and prosecution is ongoing.”
He further said, “It would have been good if they repent after serving their jail terms. But sometimes the more some of these ex-convicts are held in jail, the better for society.''
