The Kwara State Government has pledged to continue to provide an enabling environment for businesses and institutions to thrive and contribute to the state's economic growth.

Deputy Governor of the state, Mr Kayode Alabi, made the pledge at the inauguration of the 5th Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, Kwara State Chapter in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Alabi said Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has taken significant steps to grow businesses in the state, including Kwara State Social Investment Program(KWASSIP), which grants loans to businesses.

He applauded the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (NIEEE) for its dedication towards advancing technological innovations in line with the increasing needs of society and humanity.

The Deputy Governor, therefore, challenged the institute to create more innovations to solve electrical and electronic challenges in the State.

This, he said, will bring about more economic achievement not only for the institution but for Kwara State as a whole.

Alabi congratulated the new Chairman of the Institute, Engr. Abidoye Olufemi and the Executive members, while charging them to see the opportunity as a call to service for the benefit of their professional body and humanity.

He encouraged the institute to sustain a culture of commitment and strict adherence to global best practices and shun conducts that could undermine the institute's integrity.

Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, Ilorin chapter, Engr. Abidoye explained that Engineers were the driving force behind innovation and development in the economy which makes it essential to promote professional competence and excellence among members.
