Egbewole congratulates Ilorin Emir, Olofa, Elese

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has felicitated with the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, and two other First Class monarchs in the state on various monumental milestones recorded by each of them recently.

While the Emir was recently appointed the Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, the Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi, marked his 13th anniversary on the throne of his forefathers just as the Elese of Igbaja, Oba Amodu Babalola Awuni Arepo II, clocked 34 years on the throne.

In a statement signed by the Director of Corporate Affairs, University of Ilorin, Mr Kunle Akogun, the Vice Chancellor congratulated the Emir on his appointment as the Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, which he described as a sister second generation university that was established at the same time with the University of Ilorin.

Prof. Egbewole said that the appointment of the Emir of Ilorin, as the Chancellor of the Bayero University, Kano, is timely and well deserved.

The Professor of Jurisprudence and International Law described Bayero University, Kano, as an institution that shares very close affinity with the University of Ilorin, recalling that it was from the University that Prof.

Shuaibu Oba AbdulRaheem, OFR, was appointed as UNILORIN's 6th Vice Chancellor, while two of UNILORIN's Principal Officers, the Registrar, Mr Mansur Adeleke Alfanla, and the University Librarian, Dr Kamal Tunde Omopupa, were also groomed at Bayero University.

The Vice Chancellor explained that members of the University of Ilorin community are very optimistic that the Emir would advance the cause of Bayero University and the nation's educational system in general during his Chancellorship tenure.

Prof. Egbewole also congratulated the Olofa of Offa on the 13th anniversary of his coronation, saying that the reign of the monarch has been very peaceful and so prosperous that it has witnessed the establishment of two universities in the ancient town.

The Vice Chancellor described the Olofa as a generous leader and a wonderful royal father who had never hidden his love for the University of Ilorin before and since his enthronement in 2010.

Prof. Egbewole similarly rejoiced with the Elese of Igbaja, on the 34th anniversary of his peaceful reign over his people.

He said that the Kabiesi's reign had brought monumental development to Igbaja and environs in the last 34 years.

The Vice Chancellor wished the three foremost royal fathers many more years of peaceful and eventful reigns on the thrones of their illustrious progenitors.
