Kwara Gov welcomes new NLC chairman, excos
Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has congratulated the newly elected state chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) Comrade Muritala Saheed Olayinka and other members of the newly constituted State Administrative Council.
“The Governor congratulates the NLC on the success of its 13th Quadrennial Delegates Conference in Ilorin and the emergence of its new leadership in Kwara State. The Governor is truly excited at the fine quality of the new leadership that he trusts will build on the constructive engagement, collective bargaining principles, and industrial harmony with the government as espoused by the outgone leadership. He looks forward to working with the new leadership of the NLC and the labour movement as a whole in an atmosphere of mutual understanding and commitment to public good,” according to a Government House statement on Wednesday.
“The Governor urges the new leadership to work with his administration to continuously improve workers' welfare on a sustainable basis, as has been the case over the past three years during which the government has implemented the new minimum wage in a way never seen before in the state, addressed some pending promotion issues and cash-backing, paid billions of naira in salary, pension and gratuity arrears dating back to 2009, and extended friendly gestures to the workers to compensate for their hard work and commitment. The Governor looks forward to doing a lot more for workers and the people of the state upon re-election this Saturday, God willing.”
