Vice President Namadi Sambo yesterday paid an official visit to Kwara State during which he commissioned the re-modelled Ilorin Juma'at Central Mosque and the Advanced Medical Diagnostic Centre, Ilorin .

At the commissioning of the diagnostic centre, Sambo stated that the centre was capable of saving Nigeria from capital flight on medical tourism and treatment abroad and in neighbouring West African countries.

He commended the courage of the state government in the conception and execution of the project, describing it as one of the best in Africa.

Sambo noted that outflow of resources from the country would be a thing of the past with effective functioning of the centre. He challenged the Kwara State government to match the newly commissioned centre with appropriate manpower of qualified Nigerian medical practitioners now working abroad.

Sambo stressed the need for proper maintenance of the centre so that it would not become a shadow of itself quickly.

Also speaking at the event, Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, who said government hoped to generate considerable internal revenue by providing advanced medical diagnosis at competitive rates, added that the centre would be run through a Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) with a highly reputable firm.
