Date: 2022-09-22

Scores of supporters of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),in Kwara state, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Wednesday, agreed to join forces to deliver the state to him during the 2023 general elections.

The groups numbering over 21 gathered in Ilorin, Kwara state capital came together under the umbrella of “Friends of Atiku” in Kwara where they charted way forward on how to deliver the state to the PDP presidential candidate during the 2023 general elections.

The gathering which was coordinated by the Kwara state chapter of Atiku Support Organisation (ASO) consisted of politicians across party lines and other stakeholders.

Declaring the meeting open, the state coordinator of ASO, Barr. Olusegun Olawoyin, said: “The forum was initiated to bring all friends of Atiku Abubakar from various groups and political parties together so that we can work together for the PDP presidential candidate and deliver the state for him during the 2023 general elections.

Olawoyin who expressed delight over the large turn out of members of various groups for the meeting, described Atiku as a visionary leader capable of bringing the desired change to the country.

“Atiku is a visionary leader. We need a change, but not the kind of the change brought by the All Progressives Congress (APC) . Enough of insecurity, enough of poverty, enough of ASUU strike. Atiku has given us his blueprint, no other candidate has done that,” Olawoyin added.

He enjoined the friends of Atiku to see themselves as one, championing the same cause and should therefore work in unison to ensure the victory of the PDP's presidential candidate come 2023.

Also speaking, the deputy coordinator of ASO in the north central, Hon. Isiaka Mogaji, assured the crowd that Atiku and the former Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki are on the same page and enjoy cordial relationship.

He urged the stakeholders and their followers to cast their votes for all the PDP's candidates across board.

The PDP governorship candidate in Kwara, Alhaji Abdullahi Yamman, was represented at the event by Hon. Timothy Jiya.
