Saraki accuses APC of winning Kwara with deceit

Date: 2022-08-29

A former President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki, has recalled that the ‘O to ge’ campaign adopted by the ruling All Progressives Congress in Kwara State to oust the Peoples Democratic Party from government was full of lies and deceit.

He said the strategy was adopted to deceive the people of the state just to win elections.

Saraki spoke in Ilorin, the state capital, on Saturday, while receiving members of the ruling APC in the state who defected to the PDP.

The APC won the 2019 general elections by 100 per cent in the state, winning the governorship seat, the three Senate seats, six House of Representatives seats and 24 state House of Assembly seats.

Receiving the defectors, Saraki described the 2019 ‘O to ge’ movement adopted by the APC to win the elections as tissues of lies.

“But Kwarans have learnt their lessons in a bitter way now. I am confident that the PDP will send the APC away from the Government House in 2023 by the grace of God,” he said.

He said he based his optimism on what he described as the awful performance of the current Governor, AbdulRaman Abdulrazaq.

The state chairman of the PDP, Babatunde Mohammed, assured the defectors of a level playing field in all the party’s activities in the state.

“Residents of the state both indigenes and non indigenes are now regretting that they mistakenly voted for the current government in 2019,” he added

The defectors, who were led by Kayode Ogunlowo, hinged their action on alleged victimisation and intimidation by the present administration in the state.
