Kwara govt to ensure adequate water supply

Kwara state government says it has put adequate provisions in place to put an end to the perennial water scarcity in some parts of the state.

The State Commissioner for Water Resources, Mrs Ariola Lawal, said the state government inherited acute water supply situation from the previous administration .

The commisioner said almost all the water works in the state had been vandalized before the coming on board of the Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq-administration .

Mrs Lawal said the immediate past administration in the state had expended between N7 and N8 billion on water reticulation but used water tankers to convey water to some parts of Ilorin, the state capital.

She explained that the current administration met the Water Corporation in comatose adding that the staff were on strike based on Non-payment of arrears of salaries and lack of chemical.

Mrs Lawal noted that the first step the administration took was to settle the arrears of salaries of the staff of the state Water Corporation.
